PARKS AND MARINAS

The following is a list of pertinent Recreational Facility projects on which C.Vargas & Associates, Ltd has performed engineering services.

Marine One Fire Station, Jacksonville, Florida (00011)          84038
Designed a project to be constructed on a fenced 0.66-acre site with detention pond, asphalt parking lot with ten (10) regular parking spaces, one (1) handicap parking space, a 1798 s.f. concrete fenced courtyard, which included 418 s.f. of covered area.  The building is a 2240 s.f. concrete split face block structure with a shingle roof containing a dayroom/office, kitchen, locker room, storage room, study or workout room, three (3) separate sleeping quarters and rest room.  The building meets all ADA requirements and has a standby generator.

The marina area consisted of 526 s.f. of prestressed dock, 1006 l.f. of floating docks which includes an 84’-10” long fendered dock with mooring dolphins, two (2) 48”-8” long fendered docks with each having a 30,000 lb cradle lift system with a 2,874 s.f. standing seam metal deck roof cover and four (4) 22’ long floating slips.

Kids Kampus, (94003.01), Jacksonville, Florida

Provided design of Phase I of the Kids Kampus Regional Park, consisting of the infrastructure design for the 10-acre site.  Also responsible for coordinating the drainage infrastructure and site development with the Gator Bowl designer to assure that water, sewer, electric and other utilities services are coordinated and that the drainage design and permitting are consistent.

Metropolitan Park Marina, City of Jacksonville, Florida 84038

Provided master plan, design, plans and specifications for 20 acre, downtown urban park with 89 slip marina including drainage, paving, access roads, utilities, piers, bulkheads and related support facilities.  Preparation of permits for Corps of Engineers, Florida Department of Natural Resources, Florida Department of Environmental Protection, U.S. Coast Guard and The St. Johns River Water Management District.

Construction Cost:  $2,500,000 (cost estimate)

Design of Fire Marine Station, 2,177 sq. ft. building including office-day room, bunk room, kitchen, bathroom, work-out room and storage room.  Split face concrete block with shingle roof, along with docking facility for 6 small and 1 large fire boat.

Derby Lake at Tenoroc, Polk County, Florida 94017
Design, permitting, and construction administration for the Derby Lake Recreational Facility to meet the American Disabilities Act, including picnic pavilion, bathrooms, parking lot and fishing platforms and bridge to accommodate handicapped citizens.

Peters Point and Burney Beachfront Parks, Nassau County, Florida      87040
Provided engineering design services including permitting and preparation of plans and specifications for two recreational beachfront parks.  This involved stormwater, water and sewer permitting, bid evaluation, bid award and recommendation, construction administration and assistance for grant applications.

Peters Point Beachfront Park consisted of a bath house facility with restrooms and inside shower stations, lighted picnic shelters with interconnected nature walks, twenty-six picnic tables and a 200-car parking lot with access road.  Water and sewer was provided to serve the site along with site preparation, landscape and clean up.

Burney Park consisted of a bath house with restrooms, inside and outside shower stations, off-site lift station and force main water distribution in the park; and a 130-car parking lot with entrance.

Ft. Clinch State Park, Boat Ramp & Parking Facilities Fern. Beach, Florida      87032
Provided civil engineering design services for boat ramp and launch facilities.  This involved demolition of existing boat ramp and design of a specialized boat ramp on piles.  This design was required because of the fluctuation of tides in the area to accommodate for 8′ tides. Also designed and permitted for site development, parking lot improvements, bath house, showers and restroom support facilities.

St. Mary’s Waterfront Design, St. Mary’s, Georgia 86036
Provided engineering master plan design of proposed downtown waterfront beautification along St. Mary’s Street with boat landing ramp improvements including additional fixed piers, additional floating docks; along with walkway and road improvements of St. Mary’s Street, Osborne Street, and Bryant Street.  Landscaping design and surveying services were also provided.
